A portret of an Andalusian mare. As most of you already know, Andalusians are my favorite breed of horse and I use them a lot for my drawings. But they were all stallions. So I thought a tribute to the mares was in place! They have their own beauty. Not the impressive muscles that the stallions have, but more a serene calm and nobility with the pride of a mother.
Still not on my trusted Daler-Rowney paper but on the Bristol pad. And still not to happy about this paper, the Daler Rowney is more forgiving! I'm going to sit on the couch now, my back hurts! Derwent watercolour pencils on Bristol paper, A4 size (20x30cm). Its a photo, I know... a scan is on its way!! Referenced from a gorgeous photo by Juliane Meyer, [link] . Edit october 16th: the scan is uploaded!! |

i love her eye, and the shadows, you really captured that, so well that i thought there was just a shadow on the paper over her face and neck.
