Beautiful blending and handling of the colours. The blue BG was a good choice too. The white areas are so bright! Is that just watercolour pencil? If so... they have good covering power, I might have to get some myself!
Thank you. Yes, all coloured pencil! The soft watercolour pencils have great covering power, even on black paper. They are a joy to work with, cant imagine working with others. You should give them a try!
Wow. I'll definitely have to try those then! Especially given my current experiments with pencils and pastels on toned papers. I always assumed watercolour pencils would be, I don't know... "thin", not much covering power... Like watercolour paint Silly I know. I'll try them out! What brand are you using?
I would love to know how pastels work. I have the idea that backgrounds are easier to draw using pastels. Because I hate doing them with pencils. And its still a miracle to me how people use pastels and are able to create such intricate details with them! I use Derwent Watercolor pencils. I love them.
Yes, I've been using pastel sticks for the backgrounds and larger areas, and the pencils for the more detailed parts. And on the velour paper, they do flow very smoothly! Ahh good old Derwents! I bet my local art shop will have those. They do seem to be downsizing their stock though, slowly. I better go and look next payday!
